Help to ID

I originally posted this in todays finds, but was informed that I may have more luck on this forum. Not sure what it is, thinking old tent stake or some such. there was a revolutionary camp on the property at one point. The current house has been there since the 1790's. We found this by the old barn/house foundation. Any ideas?

The size and what metal it's made out of would help to ID the item. Is it magnetic?
