Hello everyone,

I would need your help to be able to identify and date this craft work, carried out on a carved and painted wooden panel.

The panel is large, measures 40 cm and the wood is quite heavy.

The edge is very thick, it varies depending on the processing, from a minimum of 2.5 cm up to 3.5 cm

The hook is quite old and could help in dating

At the top a little to the right, I can see a signature, a name, but I can not understand well.

From the technique and from the subject it seems to me an old African work, but I am not very expert in this field and I turn to you for help.

I thank everyone for the time lent to my post

when looking at the back you can see the long bumps/grooves from a machine planer. So that should help give a clue. it def was not a sawn and hand planed. so i would say early to mid 1900's at the oldest but could be from the 1980's for all I know.

Hi Gianica

Your carved panel is not very old,as mentioned by Tpmetal ,modern machine marks on back, timber ,pine four narrow boards joined, carving style very coarse.
age not easy may in last 10-20 years, maker ? cannot read Signature .Does not look African to me. Not African timber. Modern radiata pine.
Regards Freddo.
