Help? The mysterious round rock

I found this as a kid, I use to dig for" treasures". It very much feels like a stone , it's very smooth ... I dug it up when I was like 8 near my great grandparents' chicken coop. I've held onto it since .

cannot tell exactly the size even in your grip but sometimes back in the days when I was a kid, shapes like that in stone, clay or some blown of glass were put into nests and the story at that time was it kept hens staying in their nest and encourgaed them to either lay eggs or stay with them til hatched.
