hello,

my friend send me this photo, of his fisher gold bug 2.
i think he got scammed, but seller refound him.

he said that the metal detector work but the switches and ground balance knob don't do anything, so he open the control box and they aren't soldered on the motherboard ( see the red circles in the photo) ??? :dontknow:

someone have a picture of the fisher gold bug 2 pcb so we can understand where they had to be soldered, on internet i can't find any picture.

i know that metal detector is a stupid chinese copy, but my friend have bought it, he don't know a lot about metal detecting and don't have a lot of money so i want to help him.
So at least he can find someone when we go out, without dig iron if we solder the switch.

sorry for my bad english i am Italian. :hello:

Sorry, I’ve taken mine apart 3-4 times to replace the iron ID switch, but never took a picture.

Without taking mine apart, your friend’s sure looks familiar.

thanks, for the reply.

the picture is from youtube because my friend have the same problem but the metal detector is in his parents house. Now in italy we can't go out or leave our home.

you remember if your pcb looks like the pcb in the picture ? maybe in the future we can do something to improve the performance of this damn chinese clone?

i like work on electronics and also we don't anything to lost

thanks very much

I loaned my GB2 out to my son..but when I get it back, I’ll take a couple pictures.
Might be a couple days. Sounds like you have the time.

Hello,

you have some news about gold bug 2 ?

Thanks very much have good day

I’m having a hard time prying it back from my son...I’ll text him today to drop it off.

Definitely looks different.

The iron ID switch has been replaced a few times on my detector.

I’d love to see some pictures of your detector when it’s put back together so we know what to look out for.

Very nice of you to take on this virtual project.

Nicely done, and all the best,

Lanny

Thanks very much for the pictures.
Very different detector. From the outside it look identical ti a original fisher gold bug. Only difference is that original fisher have white dots on knob.
