Michelle... is that a human face in the inlay?  It almost looks like a Mayan or Indian motif?

Maybe closer pics, it's hard to see...  :)

ALso - is there no maker's name stamped on it anyplace?

The face seems sort of cat-like, especially the eyes...

There might be some marks on the door lock or the hinges. That will help as well.

I will venture a guess and say It is Victorian in age and it looks Italian or French.

That is the best I can do with out seeing it in person...Sorry.

View of lock box on the inside. May have name or other marks. May have to take it off and look. Information may be on the inside the hinges and visible when they are open.

Lock box is not all the way through door...no marks on the piece between the doors...nothing on the two slide locks on opposite (which until now) didnt know were there!...

two numbers at top edge of the back look stamped in the first is "4005" the other in the middle of the top back is "9" didnt know they were there either.

maybe this will help...

Re: help id'ING piece of furniture

I wonder if this is a "Curio" cabinet and not a bookcase?

Re: help id'ING piece of furniture

Has a Norwegian look to me.. I would suggest a different place that deals in furniture to ask such a question.. Nice cabinet. Do not refinish it.

Try the back for a mark or name.

t net for me until they tell me to go elsewhere, ty...this place is great on id'ing ANYTHING...

No intentions on refinishing this piece...then it wouldn't be an antique!

I know it is full and you can't really move it but try a flashlight and a mirror to examine the bottom. Just shine the flashlight into the mirror and you should be able to at least see if there is any writing or tags underneath.
