Try looking into Ferdinand VI cobs for an ID match - I believe that's what you're looking at. Now at that period, the Spanish empire was minting milled coinage AND cobs depending on the mint. Yours is probably from one of the last mints to still hammer cobs - perhaps Pontosi.

I was told a story once by a guy at a shop called Michigan rarities. He said this guy came in with a pretty valuable coin and he had it in one of those cardboard holders and scratched the coin with a staple removing it. I put mine in the plastic sealed holders ever since!!!!!! just something to think about. That is a beautiful coin!!!! Tommy

Yes I know what u mean. I put it there just to make sure I dont lose it since it's so small. Definitely getting the other plastic holder type. A lot safer than the cardboard variety.

I get your point & I have never owned that type of holder. But if I were getting a coin out, I would use a sharp craft knife to cut the clear bit. (carefully but much safer)
