I found this item in my yard in CT which is along the historical Danbury trail. The item is hand made / formed. Has a very distinct patina. Had no idea what it was until I found some pictures of sling swivels on muskets. (See attached image) It looks like it would fit onto a trigger guard - has a slight bow at the top portion - such that it could attach to a companion piece allowing for rounded fit. The one I found is either very old or very crude because the craftsmanship seems less refined than samples pictures I have found. I wonder if it may be a sling swivel for some item other than a fire arm - that would explain the cruder craftsmanship.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Sling swivel would be much wider than tall - and it would be cast as part of the triggerbow.

I gotta agree with Charlie. I have never seen a rifle sling swivel or stationary sling device that was round or has an opening in the bottom of it. They are all wide and flat so the sling or strap lies flat.

My guess is that it's part of an old drop-ring drawer pull.

I could believe it was a sling swivel from a more modern rifle, maybe a 22.
