Based on the descriptions here, it sounds like a British sourcejust got a little bit closer.... I found this picture but of course the link doesn’t take me to a page that has anything to do with the picture. The picture cuts off what the monogram stands for. The last word I can read is Royal.

Had you provided the link like I asked you to do, it would have made things a lot easier. Instead, I had to sleuth the net until I found the listing on the OTHER buckle.That picture came out of the Ames Sword Company Catalog. Does anyone have that book to look up no.754?
I don't have a firm ID, but I suspect it is a late 19th century sword belt plate from a fraternal organization.
