Found this belt plate where an old farm house once was in Vermont. Any help identifying would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have a firm ID, but I suspect it is a late 19th century sword belt plate from a fraternal organization.

I have looked everywhere but can’t find what matches up with the lettering. The letters are hard to make out as well because of the way they are stacked on top of one another.

Can you post a pic of the back? That will help a great deal in dating it. But I would have to go with the comment above so far with late 19th century.

Do you mean fraternal organization like those American fraternitys often depicted in movies?
Do they even have/use swords/rapiers and if so, what for? As far as I remember you only have two fraternitys who still duel

I don't know what the plate is, but that British Victorian style of lettering became popular toward the end of 1800's .. like the 1880 era .. and was seen on both cadet and militia plates.

We need a shot of the front that is not sideways so we can ID those letters. Some monograms are really hard to figure out. Gary

If you click on the image to enlarge it, the plate is rotated 90º

Click on the picture once, then on that one and it'll rotate it for you.

Not sure why it’s sideways.... I posted it correctly but it’s rotated on the smaller screen but corrects itself when it gets enlarged. I sure hope someone knows something about this plate. This one has me stumped!

I can't help with the ID, but congrats on the nice plate. Hope someone can help you.

Fraternal like the Oddfellows or Masons.

Ahh, thank you! I was surprised first and thought they also use rapiers
This classification is interesting! We differentiate in a different way
Many of these fraternal groups used ceremonial swords, but it could also be from a military school or something like that.
