Help Identify Unusual Brass Item

Hi all. I found this at an early to mid-1800's home site. It came out of an area with a lot of what seemed to be carriage or sleigh parts. It's brass with an iron bolt connected to it... anyone know what it is?

I have to agree with Old Digger. Don't believe it to be from a coffin.

It does, but that is some heavy duty hardware for a drawer!
