Help identify my latest coin

Dayton, Oh
Hey, I sure could use some help figuring out my latest find. I found a coin about 8 inches down that is so worn that when first looked at, it looked like an oversized "slug" from an electrical circuit box. After cleaning it up I could vaguely see the outline of an indian head. It looks like an indian head penny, but it's as big as another coin I have which is an 1835 liberty one cent piece. Did they make a large Indian head one cent piece? I have some of the Indian heads that are the size of a regular penny, but this is much bigger. Sorry to say, since it's made of copper, it's so worn that just the faint outline of the head on the front and a small part of a wreath is on the back. I'd attach a picture, but it would do no good. Your thoughts, anyone??? Thanks!!! Goadster from Ohio

The classic large cent could look like an indian head if badly worn:

Just a possibility :D

Go ahead and post a pic. Some of these guys have eyes like an eagle. Lots of times a poster will describe something as being in the photo but it just looks like a blank coin to me! Good find whatever it is! JIM

Well, after doing what you're not supposed to do, and that's using a nylon scrubber and oxi-clean on the coin, I now see that it is a large one cent piece (left in photo), but not the same style hair on the young liberty lady as my 1830ish coin on the left. I can see the "LIB" on the headband on the front and part of the wreath on the back. So, I guess I'm getting closer and now just trying to figure out if the style is earlier than the model on the left or later....Thanks for all of your help. You've all bee great. I know its value is around "nil", but I don't care. I don't TH for profit. The thrill of the hunt is enough. Now that may change if I hit a big one like some items that I've seen on this site...Keep up the good work!!!

Well, I scanned it once but don't see it on the website, so I'll do it again. ?After doing some extensive cleaning I now notice that the mystery coin has a liberty head on the front because I can see the letters "LIB" faintly on the headband. ?It is on the left in the photo next to my other one cent piece. ?It doesn't look the same so I'm wondering if it's older or newer than the one on the right that is somewhere around 1835. ? ?Any help would be appreciated. ?Thanks!!! ?
