I know these are hard to ID and date, but I've got a feeling this is an old one I found today. After a couple of weeks, I finally got back to my site which gave up a couple of Spanish Reales (1822 and 181?) and three Phoenix Buttons (circa. 1820-1830s) and found this religious medallion.

It's shown next to a seated $0.50 for scale and is oval in shape. One side has a picture of Mary? holding baby Jesus? and says "REGINA ANGELORUM". The other side shows an Angel? and a smaller man and says "ANGELOS CUSTOS". I think the inscriptions are in Latin.

It appears to be made of a yellowish metal, perhaps bronze or brass. Looks more like bronze to me.

I know nothing about religious stuff, so any help would be appreciated. Anybody have a clue as to the ID or age of this piece?

Thanks!!!

Rick

It appears to be older than the recent religious medals that I have seen posted here before, Very Nice Find!!

Thanks for the info so far..........

I'm still in the slow process of cleaning this thing.....

It's looking a lot more like bronze than anything else....
