Hard to distinguish between a 98 and a 99. What did you let it sit in?

Try soaking in real lemon juice for 30 minutes or more. I do it on copper wheat pennies and the crud falls right off

I did a short peroxide bath after I dug it. Nothing since.

I found this large cent a couple months ago and have been debating with myself ever since. After I dug it, I thought it was a 1794 Liberty Cap but wasn't quite 100 percent. Now that it has sat for a while it looks more like a 1798? Draped Bust. I've only been detecting for a year so this is easily my oldest coin! What do y'all think?

Yes, it does look very much like a 1798  but definitely not a Liberty Cap.....after almost 40 years of detecting I have found over 300 US Large Cents and I have still not found one from the 1700's so you are very much ahead of the game after 1 year.....congrats!!

HH all!
