Help!! Are My prices lower then every one elses!!!! :(

I sell here in Portsmouth NH, the scrap yard is only 2 miles away, Prices at this place are so different then what everyone is talking about. Much easier though. Anything that sticks goes into one pile and is one price (steel/Iron), I don't bother with that stuff. If its aluminum its all the same price wether its cast or regular, its .30 cents.
This is what I am getting it seems a lot lower then everyone else.
Brass $1.10
wire $0.77
lead $0.30
copper #1 $1.77
stainless $0.15
batteries $3 a piece

The thing about it is, they drive less then a mile away to drop it off, at the docks where the barges pick it up. So i would think i would be getting a better price, then some one in the middle of the country. (i just assume most of it is shipped to china.) Also the business was just bought by some guys I went to school with. I know they aren't ripping me off its just what there prices are. Some educated comments on this would be awesome!

I would also like to add, that I just started scraping a couple of months ago, because of this forum. I love it! So thanks to everyone!!

The best thing to do would be to call some other scrapyards (several) even if they are farther away and ask about prices. around here they all pay a little different from each other. If his prices are about the same as theirs then use him as he is much closer. If they pay more figure out what the extra gas will cost. It may be a worth it to drive a little farther for the increase. Everything is priced lower right now but as commodities come back up the price will to. also if he is this close to your home you may want to consider scrapping steel and tin. .07 a pound here in tennessee. I get about $70 for a truck load when I take it on my way to or from work. 1000# is not that hard to collect just pick it up as you see it around and save up a load.
