Welcome Kevin,
As you have seen, probably, there are many of us who use the Etrac in this area, so I am sure you'll be getting out with some of us soon here. My biggest starting suggestion is to get and read Andy Sabisch's book on the Minelab Explorer and Etrac series. Second suggestion is to swing low and slow. Third suggestion is to hunt 30 tones (or the highest # possible-I forget) Conductivity -- Learn to hunt by sound and not #'s. Fourth suggestion is to ditch the coin discrimination pattern, you'll read about patterns in Andy's Book. With that pattern you'll miss some coins (I go with blocking out FE 24 and below, Co 8 and below, FE =1 Co =30 to 38, Fe =1 CO = 43-45, FE = 1 Co =49-50. This will make sense to you after you read up.

I'm sure others will pipe in with a lot of other thoughts.

Welcome aboard...
Your going to love the Etrac....
I have had mine for a year or so and it is a great machine.
As far as tips. DON"T GET FRUSTRATED you will learn it over time and you will be glad that you didn't give up....

welcome to this forum i too am ordering a e trac on monday from everything i have read or heard it is the one to have for deep silver and coins good luck we will both be learning a new toy good hunting dennis

Congrats on your purchase. Ditto to what p2c said. remember to swing low and slow, and "listen" to those squeaks popping thru everything else. Good luck, and I'm sure you'll have the opportunity to swing the coil with someone that's a little more experienced with the machine and would be glad to share some tips.
