Hello To Everyone

thx; hope you can help me to become a better digger.

I've been experiencing my detector all day. Dug plenty of nails (which I've been told to dig the lower tones as they are the gold), which has produced nothing but nails. My blue heeler has been digging all day copying my motions. Hasn't found any treasures as of yet but a buried bone.

Just not sure how deep my detector can reach. Been finding many coins (from 70's) but think I may need a better machine to detect later years. My dog digs when I dig just think she's hoping she'll find a buried bone......

thx; I thought so too. Gives me encouragement to keep digging as it was my last find before dark.

Hi Laura and welcome. If you have questions just ask. There is lot's of experience on here and most folks don't mind helping. I would think that there should be lots to find on a place 100 years old. Do you know where the clothesline stood? The trails to the outbuildings? Check around big trees in the yard etc. Happy hunting!

Welcome from Maryland. You came to the right place for assistance and great finds to start off with. I'm sure all would like to help and one question so we can do so is what model bounty hunter do you have so we can help figure out what advice to give you on settings. I'm sure a 100+ year old house will give up more than a few coins.

Thanks for any help! Ben says it is a Bounty Hunter QD II, this is the face on it, we cannot find the instruction manual.
Everything I have found seems modern, or 1970 and later. Except maybe the makeup tin. I think that the detector may
not be able to read deep enough for the older things? The ground is very dry here, Ben said this may be having an effect
on it. He put a small end on it instead of the large one that came with it, we think it pinpoints better but we arent sure.
There is a lot of stuff in the ground in this yard. Also Ben thinks the houses around it were built much later and that their
yards were probably once part of this one. I have found the interesting things along what looks like an old gravel drive that is
now under the dirt just a little bit, but it is along the edge of the current property line. The clothesline seems long gone cannot find it.
Ben says the trees are no more than 50 years old.

Don't underestimate that little detector my daughter started on that one, we still have it and it has found stuff 8 inches deep. Read the manual but for real quick advice, switch the coil back to the bigger one for depth, turn the sensitivity up almost all the way until about the 4 o'clock position, your discrimination leave it off but down at the bottom you see the button reading auto notch..push it and it will automatically take out trashy finds for the most part, no machine is fool proof. Make sure you keep the coil flat..parallel to the ground about an inch or two at all times, don't chicken wing it,means swing it like its a pendulum. I hope I helped some.i thought from your first picture it was a quick draw but wanted to make sure, I knew I could help u if it was. My wife and daughter like to use it because its light weight. Good luck, I hope you find buckets more and plz post them so we can see.
