Hello, my name is Laura, I am new to both metal detecting and internet talk forums. A dear friend of mine has helped me with both of these, he helped me get a Bounty Hunter detector, a Garrett pinpointer and a smaller coil for the detector. He also made me a membership here because he said I can ask questions and get good responses, he likes to hunt indian artifacts and doesn't know a lot about metal detecting, so he says this is a great way to start to learn. So, here I am I guess!
I am eager to start asking questions about this adventure, we have found several coins in my yard already!
My friend Ben helps me with putting images on the internet and such so I hope he can show off my finds!
Hello to everyone from my hometown in north Texas!

Hi Laura! Welcome!

This is a great place to learn and get advice. You can start by just going back through old posts.

You might consider browsing Sub-Forums: Texas for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state.

_DSC7495.jpgThank you for the greetings! I will explore this web page, this is all new to me and Ben is helping me.
He says right now I should ask about setting the dials on my machine so that it detects deeply instead of widely.
The coins I have found are all 1969 and later, my home is 100 years old so I feel like there must be older coins here
too but deeper?
Ben took my picture, these overalls hold my tools and make it easier to do this!
(now I have to learn to put pictures on this thing)

/wave Hi and welcome. The easiest way to post pictures is simply to drag and drop them into your post :)

Welcome from Louisiana.

Hi from Nashville Laura and welcome to TN.

Welcome to TNet Laura!

Lots of friendly folks here to help. . . with a house 100-years old, there should be some nice recoveries
in your future. Since you're learning your machine, dig all your targets. . . experience is the best way
to learn what it's telling you.

BTW, have you thought about teaching your dog to dig your targets for you? LOL

HH!

Welcome from Minnesota - Plenty to learn and a lot of good advice here on TN!!!!!

Well this is my first day of hunting in the yard find, Ben took a picture of it for me.
It was so hot I could only hunt for a few hours.
I now do not like nails very much.
I only found one gold coin, maybe tomorrow will be better.

Ben is a prankster and he put that coin in that picture with his computer.
All I found was a few coins and a lot of junk!
It was still fun though, just too hot right now!

I just found this right at dark, a little makeup cannister with makeup still in it.
I think I broke the mirror with my spade, but it is still an interesting little find to me.

Hi Laura welcome to T-Net, hope you have lots of fun here :occasion14:

My great grandmother gave me one of these in the 60's because I used to always put her makeup on and go thru her stuff when I visited. Not sure how old this one is but gives me incentive to keep going.
