Hello, TreasureNet! Long time detector enthusiast, new addition to this site. Just wanted to connect with fellow treasure hunters and amateur archaeologists (I minored in anthropology in college). I'm 43 and from deep in the Appalachians. Feel free to reach out anytime!

Welcome to the forum.
Just a small question:

Do you ever have any issues with your 2 skills?

Meaning there's the old tradition of detecting vs archaeologists.
Kind of like oil/water in a hot frying pan.

So do you get along with yourself ?

Welcome to TreasureNet, happy to have you join us.... :icon_thumleft:

Hello & Welcome. I am pretty new here as well and love the forums. I have spent some time in your area and enjoyed myself. I also spent a lot of my summers in deep southern Illinois which is a similar area and tons of great stuff to explore and find.

Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your actual state in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forum: Select Your Area....(Appalachia includes parts of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia) and select your state for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.)...

Welcome from the KCMO area.

I was gonna be an archeology major - alas, my tiny brain could not process the required math/calculus/etc...even with a tutor(s) ... no joy.

I personally find them complementary. It’s too bad the communities usually aren’t. I don’t get along with myself at all, but my skills do. :)

OK I have a question...what would you consider to be "Treasure Hunting Season" in the mid-Atlantic?

Welcome from IL.
I like detecting when it’s 50-70.
I can tell you when not to go. Hot summer weather with rank vegetation and lots of bugs. I stay home! I can’t dig when the ground is frozen so the dead of winter is out here in IL. Mid-Atlantic? Spring and fall and maybe a real mild winter day??

I usually judged it from the beginning of spring with the big thaw. At least mud is soft.

Welcome aboard.. Best of luck!
