Detector(s) used
Tesoro Bandido
Hi, I'm 30 years old and have been fascinated by history for as long as I know. Was introduced to metal detecting when I was around 12 y/o. Got a Tesoro Bandido back then and still using it today. It never has disappointed me. I'm going for some serious equipment next month to pick up my hobby and passion in a more serious matter. I figured I had to register myself on this forum in order to gather information if I don't know what I found and to share my findings to the world. Feel free to ask any questions, if you have any ^^

Welcome to T Net from Michigan!

Welcome from Colorado!! I wish I would have started detecting earlier. How is detecting in the Nederlands??? The rules seem a little vague over there, are any public areas available to detect? I get to Enkhuizen once in a while and would love to detect there. I bet you have some pretty incredible finds!!!

Welcome from northwest Connecticut! Please post some pictures of your finds.

The rules are pretty simple actually. You can't MD at locations with archeological/historical value. This information can be found on local district's website. And it's strictly forbidden to MD at places where there were fights of WWII. For example I think all Arnhem you are not allowed to MD/MF due to the risks of digging/fishing up bombs and ammunition. Other than that, a local park or forest has to state in their rules and on the signs when entering that no metal detecting is allowed. Other than than, you can search anywhere public. Private, If given permission of the land owner ofc.

The most interesting things I found was WWII related since I'm living close by an old German occupied airbase. Once I found a little pathway in a forest near there, I found a SC50 bomb (I was 14). I continued searching on that pathway and it was filled with the exact same hits so I marked the place and the Dutch EOD took care of that little pathway. They confirmed there were much more of those bad boys buried there. All my findings when I was younger are at my parents house, If I get the chance I'll make some pictures and will post it here.

That is very good information Swartsy!! Thank you very much!!! It is pretty incredible and scary that you would have the chance to dig up a bomb!!!!
