I have been detecting for a about a year now, but have always had a fascination with metal detectors. I will be 44 this August and took me this long to spend the money on a detector and I have been hooked ever since.
I have paid my dues with a my introductory Tesoro Silver uMax, and have good success with it finding silver rings, coins and even spoons, but I have yet to bag any gold but I have found some civil war era relics. I spend some time gridding out the local elementary school field, scraping up clad and looking for jewelry, but I also like to go into the woods and poke around for random items.
My next ambition is to hit the surf. I grew up on the beaches on California and look forward to getting in the water to find that elusive gold. I am considering first getting snorkel gear and eventually scuba certified if it goes well. Scuba is another long time ambition I have yet to conquer.
I look forward to making some contacts, sharing in some stories and of course learning from the veterans of the treasurenet community.
