I found this in a forest preserve that used to be a farm from the 1920s through the 1970s. At first, because it was so heavy, I thought it was a very old coin. Then maybe a button, but its thick, too heavy, and Im not sure the tie would be so loose. For what it is worth, the location is near (like 150 feet away) railroad tracks that have been in operation for 140 years. Wasnt all that deep, maybe 4 inches down. I cant find anything like it.

On close examination there appears to be a number 4 on one side. It appears to be brass possibly. it is almost exactly 1 inch in diameter. And very heavy.

Im thinking either an extremely heavy, odd button or Maybe part of a land suveyors equipment.

...any ideas?

Congrats Fivey! very interesting find. I don't suppose it weighs 4 ounces?

I'm sure glad Marilyn Monroe didn't have any of these. LOL

Best wishes and good luck!
