I usually have (or Stop for) Breakfast before.

but I'll bring some Soda & Chocolate Tastykakes.

"Healthy" ? What's that ? :D

Re: "HEALTHY LUNCH IDEAS FOR DIGGING TRIPS" {I,M CURIOUS TO WHAT YOU EAT}

This is what I usually take.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (my favorite)
Two soft granola bars (called Clif bars)
An apple or carrot sticks
Gatorade

I usually eat breakfast at home before I leave. Usually oatmeal or Cherrios.

Kippers :P,chocolate ,water ,fruit.

Re: "HEALTHY LUNCH IDEAS FOR DIGGING TRIPS" {I,M CURIOUS TO WHAT YOU EAT}

I've been known to take grapes, bananas, cucumber slices, carrot sticks, apples, or oranges.
I like the bananas because they are easy to pack and no real worries except smooshing them.

I also keep my camping gear in the trunk, so I know there is a jar of dried beef in there, plus cans of mixed fruit. I only break into those if I've been out for a long while and didn't eat.

As far as drinks, I bring a canteen of water usually. If not the water I at least have some gatoraide on hand.

Sheesh a bunch of spoiled plutocrats

A few dry tortillas with beans and chilies, a handful of Chihuahua cheese, water is from a cow track, or by displacing a batch of swimming critters in a pool that smells like a cow urinal . If one goes elegantly, a beer bottle of strong black Mexican hill coffee. The mule generally shares the excess tortillas minus the Chilies.

p.s. surprisingly enough, this actually provides an almost completely balanced meal, nutrition wise.

Ohhh Myyyy, I bet whoever hunts with Monty bring his or her own lunch. Can we pass on the possum butt pie? By the way, does mom have a recipe for that uhhh...yummy sounding pie?

I eat breakfast before I strike out and then eat again when I return home. Bottle of water and turn me loose, food is not even in my thoughts when I detect. Slows me down and harder to bend over and dig on a full tummy.... ;)

Stopped at the Big M Supper Club (McDonald's for you flatlanders) drive-through this morning.

Drove 1.5 hours to Murfreesboro (near Stone's River Battlefield), eating on the way. Yes, I talked on the cell phone too :D :D.

Hunted for 4 hours with new MDing buddy. Neither of us found a darn thing!!!

Drank a quart of Sam Walton's finest (no, not Sam Adams), and ate a package of peanut butter crackers. Was nearly starved to death.

Drove home (going back through Nashville at rush hour is a trip).

Ate a full rack of baby back ribs, a loaded baked potato, and fried apples, at my favorite BBQ place (Grib, swing, and j.d. know the one). Washed it all down with 3 diet Cokes.

Healthy enough for you? :D :D
