I plan to get a set of headphones for my metal detector I want to know from you all if it actually does increase your chance to detect different metals and if there's a different technique using my d-tector with a headphones . I plan to get a set of bounty hunter headphones they should work good with my metal detector look at my profile to see what kind of metal detector I have I appreciate your comments thank you very much from the Rio Grande Valley

They should help you find deeper targets you will get whispers and that usually indicates the target is deeper. I also highly recommend the Treasure Wise Headphones.

Good luck

Simply, headphones help you hear better under all conditions, especially the faint whispers of some deep goodie.

1) They are hecka hot when on your ears, so summer temps make them a bit miserable
2) The cords are Always getting tangled with something so having a solid as a rock cable to headphone body connection is VERY important
3) The headphones block out exterior noises, that's why you can hear the whispers, but if you are in rattlesnake country you can not hear the BUZzz.
4) If where you live you can detect in the winter then they will help to keep your ears warm

I have a pair of high end Detector performance headphones and have experienced all of the above good things and not so good things.

Then, I purchased a pair of TDK WR 700 Wireless HiFi-Headphones from newegg.com, I am in love with them! No wires to tangle at ANY TIME, still hot in the summer though but at least the wire tangle is gone and that is nice. They are a newegg Item # 26-131-003 and if you purchase them check first for a $'s off coupon. newegg dealt very honestly with me, I mean very honestly! I do not work for them, get any kick back from them - they just did me right and the earphones have better sound than my Senheisers...............................63bkpkr

I broke mine last weekend just replaced with upgrade today I didn't even hunt without them I don't think I know how lol

Over the ear headphones are just too hot where I'm at, so I started using ear buds.
Well, I just keep pulling them out by accident all the time. I'm going wireless first chance I get.

Good luck to you.

IMHO any headphone regardless of type, is a must have/use accessory.

I have a delta 4000 too and I find headphones don't make too much difference unless I'm in a noisy location.
Mind you the delta's high pitch tone wont sound at volume setting 2 or lower! on my and other units. (see my posts about Teknetics firmware bugs)
The delta doesn't make "whisper" tones so headphones won't really increase your chances...

That's how the Ace is. It either dings or it don't. The exception being pinpoint mode. I can swing in pinpoint mode and find a target that won't get a ding on the highest sensitivity. The deeper targets do have a more faint volume in pinpoint mode on the Ace. Don't know of yours does.

Centar - I'm curious about your statement saying the "delta doesn't make whisper tones" . I've never used one, but you may hear whisper tones with headphones that you won't through the detector speaker. If it really doesn't, then headphones won't help, but if it does and your not hearing it because of the speaker? - Get my drift?

Ya the audio on the delta is created by the electronics and controlled by the firmware, not like in an analog MD (and even some of those aren't direct audio)
meaning that the volume of the tone is controlled my the MD not the target, so headphones won't make any difference if you can hear the speaker...now for noisy environments or privacy headphones are a must.

get some with a springy chord.

I just went out hunting with my headphones and I did hear one whisper

I don't know what air test is but who knows maybe I was imagining things.
but I swear that was before I read your post about the doctors do not whisper what I heard was like a really faint sound come through my headphones

I always use good headphones, but just the other day I tried my daughters earbuds. She has Urbeats by Dre.
Absolutely phenomenal is all I can say. Just clip them to your shirt and they won't get pulled out while bending down or moving around.
I didn't think they'd work that well in a noisy area, but they do.

the delta will play the high pitch tone at a very low volume when the volume is set at 2 or 3, if it is set to 1 you wont hear the high pitch tone (like for silver) at all!
maybe that's what you heard....
and an air test is just that detecting metal through the air instead of dirt....a good way to test your metal detector's response to different targets at different distances....it is actually shown in the Delta's manual...

exactly there is no winner here

Hard to believe how much it helps me. Hearing is impaired from .... you guessed it, GUNS. With the G2 the pot metal and junky stuff tends to give more of "click" type sound in the high tone. When you want to double check an object for being large iron back off and approach slowly while swinging and you get a distinct "grunt" if it is iron. As you get over it the object it then gives the high tone. I know when in doubt you should dig, but I hunt in some really heavy trash and the headphones are an absolute must. Good deep heavy metal sounds really smooth without the sharp edges. Without headphones they are all just beeps.
