Headphones? Yes or no?

Probably you're missing targets that are small or deep. These signal are often drowned out by the ambient noises as urban traffic, wind, waves.

Most folks still find targets, and they believe that everything is great.

Personally I have a great respect for nature. I prefer not to assault it with the harsh sounds that are produced from the machine.

Learnt also in the 1970s that headphones can divert unnecessary attention.
The speaker screams-Look at me!
It's my own personal thing.
I prefer not to engage with the world when I am digging.

I have used headphones,, maybe a couple of 100 hours at the most... seen no difference really.. I suppose i could be missing some little squeaks.... not really that bothered.... I also have two dogs with me, all the time, so i am also listening to them, the older one is in my profile pic,, have a younger bigger clumsy male version now too. So i tend to go without headphones,, and i turn my volume quite low, 50%....

I tried detecting with the dog on the property. Too much of a distraction actually.
So I even tried it with my young chickens.
Until one ate the porcelain button before I could get it.

I always use them. I may not cover as much ground as I would like to but what I do cover I want to get as deep as I can. I don't want to spend time cleaning the surface junk for the next guy to come in and hit the older/deeper targets.

Anybody use hearing aids with head phones and if so what kind ?

Yes. Lucid hearing aids. 4 program choices, volume adjustable for either both or one side, sound adjustable like an equalizer, all by your phone. Nokta headphones. If it gets too hot and sweaty take out the hearing aids.
