Hi I am headed over to Hershey Pa for a couple of day. I was wondering if anyone would like to get together for a few hours and do some detecting. As I would ot know where to go. Plus if no one is available for a hunt. Can anyone tell me if you are aloud to detected tot lots in parks that is in the area. Any information you can give me will be appricated......Thanks Matt

sorry i'm not from that area but at most tot lots, parks, and so on there are usually list of rules....if the sign doesn't specifically say "no metal detecting" then i detect it. thats what works for me and no one pays me any mind. now if its some historical park then ya might wanna check out the fine print on the list of rules. but i'm sure ya shouldn't have any problems.

Not from the area Either & Weather
is supposed to turn to crap through Friday

If there are no signs it should be open to
recreation.

Been alot of "supposed" Attempted child Abductions
in the area lately, trying to lure children with

Near Hearshey Park just to the south off Hershey Park Drive is a small village called Union Deposit. An old canal (1770s) used to run along the Swatara Creek. There is a small tot lot park located there. I've been there on a few occasions with minor success. Maybe you'll have better luck. No problem detecting there. Note: some recent construction (a bridge replacement project) has the road to the park a bit hosed-up. That in itself might be interesting if you can gain access. You should be able to get around or across the creek to access the (tot lot) park. I would join you but I'm headed out to a new site.... one I have finally convinced the owner to let me search. I finally started knocking on doors (shedding my fears of the BIG NO)... plus most of my others recent haunts are either concreted over or just starting to bore me. Good luck.

Add'l note: Parks under the juridiction of Dauphin County are off limits to MDing. Most of the local municipal parks are good to go.... until someone hassels you.... very rare occurance from my experiance.

How about the small park downtown Hershey. They are relocating 743 through it, wonder if anyone has attempted hunting there. Lots of people around and might be difficult with pulltabs.
