I cant remember where i got this ??? but i do know a little about it. no specific details yet but i will get more info in the near future.
my wife is from germany and she has told me what she thinks but we are going to talk to her grandmother who was actually sent to one of hitlers all female schools. hopefully she will has some more info.

It is some kind of money coupon given after WW1, kind of like FEMA giving money to help after katrina.
It is only good for a specific region of germany, this one was for hessen.
they were taken to any bank where they were exchanged for either money (unknown amount) or a mix of coupons for everyday necessities.
that bank would then get reimbursed by the bank that gave them out which would have been one of the larger banks. it looks like this one came from a bank in the town of Darmstadt.
These were only valid for a certain time period when a newspaper (that is also listed on the note) would post a date when it expired.

This is all i have found out so far. i hope to get more details from my grandmother and i will post them as soon as i do.

Yes I used to have Hundreds of them once.

I was told it is the type of money you would have seen the germans take a wheelbarrow
full to the store. there are an unknown quanity of types,
and have only a collector value.

In the 60's you could buy a few hundred different ones for $5.00
I don't see them for sale anymore so their historical value has either risin,
or they are becoming more scarce.

Germans selling money in 1923

i found more info.
it is a notgeld that was given out during the 1922-23 inflafion after WW1. There were many of these issued from all over germany. from what i have found, there were 75,000-80,000 :icon_cyclops_ani:different types of these issued during this time. I stiil havent found exactly what they were used for. They were not regular money, but they were used like money for specific things. I dont know what the actual value of this was. There were notgelds with amounts in the trillions.
Here is a fun website to learn a little more. it is kind of interesting.

i buy those type German bills off ebay I collect them, sorry I would buy yours but its ripped, :(. I would value that at like 1.00, sorry they made so much of that crap that its only worth 5 dollars if its perfect with no binds folds stains or anything. But I'm no expert get it checked find a book on German bills because every city made its own type so it might be worth lots but i doubt it.

i wasnt thinking of selling it and i figured it wasnt worth much. it has more sentimental value because family has a lot of german in our background, and my wife is from germany. its just something interesting for us. thanks for the responses though. ;D

I've got one that a friend gave me when I was about 15 years old. It doesn't look like yours, but I remember it is the same size, and it says "50 millionen" on it. The guy said he had boxes of it that he had gotten from some old vet.

Nope, never seen one of those. But it sure is pretty cool.
