If you keep it in a flower pot, I wonder if there'll be a difference by it being sheltered from precipitation and stuff...unless you put the pot outside. And it depends on what you mean by deteriorate...cuz metal doesn't just dissolve in the ground...I mean, even the worst zinc pennies that I've found that must have been in the ground for 25+ years are still mostly there, just badly corroded and pitted and holed a bit. I dunno. Interesting experiment though.

Not that ANY of us like diggin zinc pennies, clad pennies....heck I don't even like Wheaties.....In fact I through all the pennies I dug today on the sidewalk so at least some kid might see them and pick them up for some candy at the store.....

HOWEVER......I did read at one of the mint websites that those new clad zincolns with the different designs will be fairly rare as there only making a small run of each.....I've only gotten one since they came out several months ago.....So yeah, I think it wouldn't be bad for some kid

I like the new design and think everyone should have a roll of each at the very least. They will be rare and have more value than most wheat's in no time. They are only .50 a roll and you can get them at most banks or online mints. I suggest everyone dose. As far as quality goes and the dirt test... The things won't last a year. Not to long ago I put some of the new ones in 2x2 holder. In less than a year they had green spots all over them, worthless.

I AGREE WITH DIG DOCTOR !!!!!!!!!!! WE COULD DO WITHOUT DIGGIN THE PENNIES TO GET TO THE GOOD STUFF !!! OF COURSE THEN THEY WOULD HAVE TO DELETE THE 1c off all the detector digital readouts !!!!!!!!!

That's stupid. They should go back to some of the old designs. They were much nicer. I'm partial to the two center design myself. I say make them all the same, just mark them with the different denominations.
