do you hav a pic?Bottle cap, (milk or soda)
We would have to search back in the 1800s patents to verify this as an early closure. I think its too large for soda. SODABOTTLEBOB would know for sure. But I dont think he frequents the forum anymore. No, I was suggesting that it may be an old bottle cap before these were used.

I agree. I have never seen a bottle closure like this.Hey BigCypress,
It is way to big for soda, and it's not a Crown Cap. Crown Caps are crimped, not pierced. There were larger containers, and even a milk bottle or 2 that took large crowns in the years after the turn of the last century, but they are few & far between.
Milk Bottle Necks & Lips
I was going to say something to do with an umbrella?

There seems to be something very familiar about this piece. I keep thinking it might be an axle cap for an old baby buggy, tricycle, or something similar.

It looks like it was made to snap on to the end of a shaft, it's beefy enough. There seems to be something very familiar about this piece. I keep thinking it might be an axle cap for an old baby buggy, tricycle, or something similar.
