Went out again tonight after dark to the area that I found part of the Trigger Guard to a musket two nights ago. I dug what looks to be a hatchet right off the get go. My next hole was a flat button similar to the one I found last night. Found a few modern items and then dug up what appears to be the handle to an older pistol. The pistol is very heavy and and may be off of a single or double shot pocket pistol? Might be a toy but will look into it further.
My last hole of the night I dug a smaller flat button and in the same hole with the flat button was part of an arrow head!

Nice finds TroutGuide. On the pistol - the trigger assembly resembles those produced in the late 1800's (S&W used them on Model 1 and 2).

I pulled these from other TN threads...

Thanks for the information VPNAVY. After doing some research, I agree that the pistol is most likely a S&W Model 2.

Now we're metal detecting. :occasion14: Congrats

After doing even more research I do not believe the pistol was from a S&W Model 2. I do believe the pistol that I found is a very rare (only 3,000 manufactured) H.F. Wheeler Patent Over / Under pocket Derringer manufactured by American Arms CO. Boston, MA between 1866-1878. I have put a picture below of one I found on-line with the one I found for reference.

Congrats on some nice finds!

Great finds! Always nice to find an axehead, wonder how much the owner used that axe...

Nice job! GL & HH

If you do some electrolysis on that you would for sure get any numbers off it. That's pretty darn cool, good find.
