Has the Equinox made all single vlf machines obsolete??

I was just wondering if you were going to keep us informed on different settings that seem to work for you with the Equinox...? I know you shared a lot of info on the Deus in the past. Nice to try different things. Got word from Keith at Fort Bedford MD that my Nox will be shipped out Very soon! Can't wait to give it a spin..

Yeah Keith just hooked me up.... I was looking at the Deus or the Nox. With Minelabs 15 percent discount its just an unbeatable deal right now to buy anything other than the nox.

Agreed.

"calabash", and again, I learn much from your videos, when I see another video posted by "calabash", I'm drawn to it like a magnet. Having said that, I think 99% of MY hunting would be in Multi, since I am more a "coin & jewelry" guy. Terry Soloman speaks highly of the 600, which speaks volumes about how good the 600 is. Just what might be the advantage if any, in going single Freq. of 20 or 40 with the 800. Of course I understand there are "extras" on the 800, but other than electronic "prospecting", what might the 800 offer over the 6 in coins, jewelry and relic hunting. This is a small question, but the point is that I DO value YOUR opinion. As far as the word "obsolete"? I can only speak for machines that I use, those being the AT Pro, and the Minelab X-Terra 70 and Safari, and I believe that word obsolete might very well apply. Thanks for taking the time and effort in the making of these really "informative" videos. Well done.

recovery speed of 7 is what I need for the thickest iron. No advantages in single freq that I have found...

Advertising hype should always be taken with a grain of salt. I like the Nox--light, fast, wireless, great screen, lots of bang for the buck--but it is not better than my Etrac for most places I hunt. Where the Nox has an advantage is in a very trashy iron-filled place that has already been hunted by the Etrac. There, with its better separation, it will find some coins the Etrac can't see because of nearby iron junk. The Nox is a modern mid-priced machine intended to compete against other modern, mid-priced machines like the Deus, Impact and Kruzer. The real test will be how it does against them.

Just curious if you own one or just an assumption?

good question!

There is no comparison between the AT Pro and the Equinox. I had an AT Pro and was darn good with it. I thought it was the ultimate detector for it's price when I bought it 7 yrs ago. I have since upgraded to an Etrac which I still have and a V3i which I sold. I also sold the AT Pro.

The Equinox 600 runs circles around the AT Pro. Faster, deeper, better target separation. The discrimination is much better along with sensitivity and you can hunt beach with it. The AT Pro is useless on a salt beach. Yes it can separate targets from buried nails and even tabs and bottle caps. The depth is an easy 12". I have actually dug dimes, quarters and pennies at 12". I hate digging that deep and if it didn't go deep I wouldn't miss it. But since I get a signal I dig till I get what the signal is coin or trash. A can will fool you at 12" but the tone is so clear it's almost a dead give away.

Being confident in your detector is important. As folks come online and get better it will be nice to hear the comments. I bought a new coil instead, as I just have too many detectors now. I still think a speedy single freq detector will read the soil and punch around that trash. It does sound like the Nox is like hunting with many detectors at once. I have seen some of Calabashes videos and found flaws in them. But my style is different and so is my dirt. Nox may have not made detecting obsolete, but there sure is some good equipment for sale if your into upgrades. Im glad folks are making videos and sharing comments.

I agree Casca. Being confident in the machine and your site keeps your attitude in the right place and it almost always seems end up in more and better finds in the pouch.
