Has a lost Nazi ghost train carrying gold finally been found?

Very curious about this. THe first prelim sweeps months ago confirmed an anomaly now they are saying there is nothing there. So who knows a local, is there a secret dig going on?


ANOTHER question.....the pictures on the one link that show gold bars loaded on a train...clearly that is not of this, but where the heck were those taken? GOld still loaded on an old train in a ark tunnel with one person messing with it???????? That is legit stuff and can not find anything about it....this whole thing a smokescreen to divert attention while another loot is dug up?

They recovered so many things after the war I assume that pic was among the many huge hoards the nazis had hidden. There are many pics out there I would try the smithsonian website I believe they have probably one of the best WW2 photo collections. The nazis used to melt a lot of the gold jewelry, fillings removed, coins etc, they stole and amassed quite a bit of gold so the idea there is still some lost isn't that crazy. Many famous paintings and works of art are still missing along with probably a few tons of gold.

Two treasure hunters who claim to have found the last resting place of a German military train believed be to laden gold are set to begin digging on the site despite widespread scepticism over their claim.

Piotr Koper and Andreas Richter, the two treasure hunters, sparked international attention and a mini gold rush last summer when they claimed to have found the train in a secret siding beside a railway line near the southern Polish town of Walbrzych.

The train, according to enduring local legends, disappeared into the hills and mountains surrounding Walbrzych in the dying days of the Second World War as it fled from the advancing Red Army. Treasure hunters say there is evidence the Germans parked the train in a hidden siding and then concealed the entrance for reasons that remain unexplained.


But the claims of Mr Koper and Mr Richter took a blow in December when a team of geological survey experts from a mining academy said their research on the believed site indicated there was “no train”.
The two have stood by their claims and their own research, and now plan to excavate the site, which lies on a railway embankment near Walbrzych, after receiving permission from PKP, Polish State Railways, the owners of the land.
“The whole team is ready for action,” the two men announced on their website.





The hunters believe the 300-ft long military train lies buried in a tunnel some 26ft high and 19ft wide. To get to it they will first have to clear some 100 trees from the embankment, and then they will sink three exploratory shafts in the hope of confirming once and for all if the train exists.
Although few now believe there is a train the treasure hunters can take solace from the fact that hills around Walbrzych are riddled with a vast Nazi tunnel complex, some of which remains either unexplored or undiscovered.
During the war under a project known as “Riese” the Germans excavated a labyrinth of tunnels in the area, which was then part of Germany, for reasons that have long remained a mystery.

Pertaining to sunken and buried treasures, I do not trust foreign countries. Come to think of it, I do not trust our country, as so many other treasures hunters.

At the end of the second day of digging, Mr. Gaik and Adam Szynkiewicz, a geologist involved in the project, said that even though the excavators had gotten down to nine meters, they still had not found anything, showing that their initial estimates that the tunnel would be eight meters below ground, and the train nine meters below ground, had been too optimistic. “We will just have to go two to three meters deeper,” Mr. Gaik said. “If we still have nothing at that depth, we will try another place.”

wonder if they meant glaciers

It turned out to be of natural origin, according to Tomasz Siwiec, the coordinator of the project. “It was an iceberg that formed this beautiful dome of loam that we thought, by looking at the radar images, to be the tunnel,” Mr. Siwiec said. “You may say that the iceberg played a joke on us.”
