Yes because while slate is 2.5-4 on Mohs hardness scale, granite is 6-7...twice the hardness and an unlikely lithic to be used for bannerstones.

Why not just google - Images for Authentic Granite Bannerstones and see for yourself. You will see one almost exactly like mine that is on i believe the 3rd row down that went for 9,500. The Native Americans many times used the material that was available instead of preference.

While there is no doubt some bannerstones were made from granite/quartz, there is nothing wrong with providing factual information about materials that artifacts are made from.
