Hi all, well my buddy Gary and I got out today and hit the ole Happy Trails site again. We got to hunt about 4 hrs. before it started to rain.

We had another good day. Of course Gary's smoked me. He found a 1943 Standing Liberty Half Dollar, a 1954 Ben Franklin Half Dollar, 3 Washington Silver Quarters 1943, 1948, 1950, 3 Rosy's 1949 D, 1952 D, 1953 D, 2 Merc's 1940, 1943 D, 1 silver Canadian dime 1950, a 1943 S War nickel, 7 wheat's and a St. Christopher.

I found 2 Standing Liberty Half Dollar's 1945, 1945 D, 1 Standing Liberty Silver Quarter, no date, 1 Silver Mercury dime 1940, 1 Rosy 1955 D, 20 wheat's and one silver ring and of course lots of junk.

I am posting some pictures of today's finds. Gary's and mine. It was a little wet out as you can see from the pictures.

Good Luck and hope your day was just as good. HH<Ringfinder

Wow, that site is maybe better than the 'berg! Sweet finds. ;D Four halves in four hours - you guys must have been slap happy. :D

I would think you were hunting the berg but we are finding stuff that dates a little farther back than the stuff at your site. It sounds though that your stuff is easier pickens.

That detector looks relatively clean. You should see Nate's after a day in the rain. Last Saturday there was a full layer of mud over the grip, control electronics box and coil. Next time I get a pic. It's amazing the abuse that DFX takes.

We are not going out to the berg this weekend. Other stuff going on. Will try to get out for a quick hunt.

later

Bob

Hi Bob, thanks for your comments. I had another picture to post but didn't. You said Nate's detector was really muddy, well what do you think of this picture. I really need my ACE before my next hunt. I've got my gloves in the dryer right now. Have to get them out before the wife finds out, ha ha!

Looks like next week it will dry off enough to get back out to the Happy Trails site and your Iceberg site. Heck maybe even after I can't walk Turkey Day, maybe I can get a little hunting in.

We will have to be careful, deer hunting season is just around the corner, don't want to get shot by some crazy hunter.

Take care and good luck with your Iceberg, Ringfinder

:D Now I see what you mean. That detector needs a serious bath. The control housing I try to be careful with and not get to wet - usually keep wiping with a damp paper towel.

Bob

Know what you mean Bob, I tried to keep it clean, but findally
Gary and I just gave up and left.

It has been raining all day here in NW Ohio and I bet it's the same way over your
way. So guess we won't be hunting for a couple days, probably be a little muddy for sure.

I did finally get the gloves out of the dryer after my wife found them in there, boy I think the
next time I'll dry them on the heater ha ha.

Man!! Sweet finds. I love how dirty yer detector got wow dirt n mud musta been everywhere!! gj :D

Man that is some great hunting really love all that trash. You really need to get a cover for that ACE,makes cleanup a lot easier, less than 10 bucks for one I think. I think I would get some bright orange clothing if you are going to be out there into deer season, but dont let the weather run you outta that place. Oh and throw the gloves on your dash and let the defrost dry them :} HH

Hey thanks for the reply, I think I will try to find a cover for the ACE, and I do have a BIG ORANGE coat to wear for the deer hunters and a BIG ORANGE HAT. Also my wife thinks that's a good idea on drying my gloves, she didn't think it was a good idea putting them in her dryer.

Thanks for everyone else's replies. Hope to hit the site tomorrow, that would be Saturday if we can. Really had a lot of rain, so don't know how muddy it is going to be.

Thanks Again and Happy Hunting, Ringfinder

WOW!!!!! all that big silver out of one site....fantastic!!!!! Congrats on all the silver and on finding a great site...hope you can get back there soon and do as well...WTG!!!!!

What a great day and congrats on the awesome finds! A gold coin would be about the only thing to have made it better. HH, Mike

Yes Mike a gold coin would be a great added addition. But after 20 years of metal detecting, I still have not found a gold coin. I know of fellows who have found them, just not me. But I still have a few good years left to detect, hope I can find one before my arm falls off. Thanks for the reply, love to go back to Germany and hunt with you sometime. I was stationed in Stuttgart at Kelly Barracks in the 1960's. I'd love to hunt that site, ha ha.
