Happy Trails and old School houses, (Update) Neat Boy Scout Token 1910 & Bottle

Well Gary and I got out today, couldn't waste a 70 degree day. We started off hitting a old house site. Picked up some coins here and then moved on to a church site and a one room school house site, then we ended the day at our Happy Trails site.

Gary had a pretty good day. He found 4 wheat penny's 1917, 1941, 1947 D, 1944. One Sherriff Badge, 1 heart shaped rosette, 1 clay pipe, 1 1942 S War nickel, 2 Religious medals, a 1962 Roosevelt dime, a 1923 Mercury dime, a 1925 SLQ and best of all a 1942 Canadian Half Dollar. He also found a 1910 Boy Scout Token.

I found 2 IH's 189?, 1889, 7 Wheat penny's 1909, 1945 D, 1940, 1930, 1953, 1955, 1952. One Roosevelt dime 1950 and a 1932 Washington Quarter. Also found a small locket, an old ring, and lots of buttons. Also I found a Palmolive token good for a free cake of soap with the purchase of one.

A really nice day to be detecting. Hope your day was just as good.

HH all, Ringfinder

I forgot to post this neat Vicks Bottle I found while detecting a field. It was just laying on top of the ground. The coin I found sometime ago. It is in the photo just to show how big or should I say little the bottle is.

Wow! Many of my favorites found in the same hunt. Those blue bottles look sweet coming out of the ground, especially if they aren't broken. And then there's the silver; what a great day.

Great digs Denny. LOVE that Canadian half! (SLQ and other silver ain't too shabby either!)

Days with that many nice targets are exciting.

Ready for the cold again ?::)

No Dan, I'm not ready for the cold again. But I can still hunt in 40 degree weather, but that darn wind, just about wears you out. Hope you guys get out this weekend and find some great stuff. Maybe Gary and I can get over your way sometime this spring or summer and do some hunting with you guys.

Great Finds Guys...

Very nice SLQ...I just love those coins...

Any idea how old the Vicks bottle is...it is way cool.

Way to go,

Nick

I've been all over the net and the best I can come up with is the bottle was a sample Vicks bottle, and was made in the 1940's. I never thought it would be that old, but the site I found it at dates back before that.

Thanks everyone for viewing my post, glad you enjoyed our finds. We had a ball finding them.

Neat stuff! Here are a couple of excerpts from c. 1913 ads for the Excelsior Shoe Co.'s "Boy Scouts" brand.

"No Scout Shoes Genuine without Swastika Good Luck Charm attached to shoes."

"Look for the 'Good Luck' Charm. 'Swastika' Good Luck Charm attached to every pair of 'Excelsior Boy Scouts Shoes.' Not genuine without the charm. Looks like gold. Will not tarnish. Great for prizes at ball games, etc."

Awesome finds!
Last year I found an Excelsior Shoe Company token, then it was going for around $10
on internet auctions.
