Funny but my mind is the same as when i WAS 20.
I wish all of you a great year in a great hobby. I don't even know how many detectors I have had but it is a great hobby.
even if you don't dig-just the good time you have searching and looking. getting a canoe will open new undiscovered earth to me.
What I have seen in my lifetime some of you will never see but I wish you could have been there .
How beautiful life really is-One of the most impressive sights as a boy that still remains with me to this day like it happened seconds ago was when I was with my father down near lake ontaio at an ice cream place outside.
Right after WWll 1945. He just returned from Okinowa and was the only one who saw them coming.
I was 5 yrs old and my father turned to me and said " here they come,watch this" and off in the distance I saw a line like a dashed pencil in the sky. It looked like this dotted pencil went into the lake and I kept looking and he just said keep watching ,here they come.
It was 5 mitchell bombers in a perfect "V"formation ( the ones with the all glass front). It looked like they came out of the lake and headed right for us about 100' above the water and as they came to the shore they climbed to just above the trees.
I could see the rivets in the planes and the faces of the pilots also but what I remember most was the incredible roar of the engines and the vibrations that shook the ground and actually feel the engine drone in my chest.
even today after all these years,I can still feel like it was 10 seconds ago and then watching them as the dissappeared in the distance.
What patriotism they had back then. If you wore a hat during the national anthem someone would knock it off your head and everybody stood for the anthem and proudly held their hand to their chest.Life is beautiful and precious-enjoy it and don't waste time being angry with someone. forget it and just move on.Try and be happy all your life because you will never come back.
make the most of your time here. be thankful you were born in this country
