Could anyone help me ID what this is? Out with my son MD'ing on Saturday on grounds that a local religious shrine owns. Checked by some picnic benches they have set sup and found a couple of pennies. On the way back I was swinging as I walked and picked this up near a tree. Looks like part of a handle that was broken in half. Other than that the only other thing that pops in my head is maybe a stirrup from a saddle?

Thanks,

I don't believe it is a casket handle or C-clamp. If it was a handle it would have cut into your hand while you were carring it. Way to thin to be functional. It is also to thin to be used as a c-clamp. Dekalb has the best idea, but don't really know if that is what it is.

I will really have to comb that area some more and see if I can find more pieces or something that will help determine what it is/was

Thanks for all the input and researching.

Doesn't look like good enough steel, if it is steel. You needed good steel to sharpen for ice skating, didn't you?
Doc

seems logical to me....and since I done a bad thing and snapped it with little effort, I don't think it was steel....besides wouldn't steel rust??
