handgun ID - only found the handle

Lots of Iron in this beach area. I probably wouldn't even have dug this but it was in plain view. Almost glad it wasn't a whole gun (almost).
Anyway, it is smaller sized but solid metal all the way through. Has a distinct "A" on both sides of the grip, but sort of hard to research. Heavy for its size.

Need an image. By "solid metal" do you mean one solid block of metal or metal frame with holes or hollows that woor grios would have covered?

As far as I know there is no centerfire pistol or revolver that has a full solid metal grip. It's either used to house a magazine or the hammer spring. Earlier flintlock or percussion maybe, but all metal is rare. Scottish pistols used a brass grip.

But, if you have something that has the grip panels cast right in the grip I'd say 95% chance it is a toy pistol.

There's a gozillion bits of metal in the soil. Sometimes someone recognizes a bit and sometimes not.
