No greg,It's all river bank finds. If I can get the old man to let me post what we've picked up over the years together. You would see not many has gotten by our eyes as far as they go.It really is a very large collection. And the way things are now in days I couldn't blame him if he didn't want to post. But I think he might not mine.I'll ask him next time I see him.Guarantee a WoW factor if he does.
Thanks,Timekiller!

I personally do.It sure looks like that to me over the years of doing this stuff. If not exact very close. 9 times out of 10 a colonial foundation or sign of like mabe an old landing is very near by.I think the indains new best and every one else followed. They were not dumb people for sure.
Thanks again,Timekiller!

Sorry do not mean to be a bother but in my limited studies of ancient maps I have also found that the indians had the history of the site, water, flood zones and kept the area clear with fire. It was natural for early settlers to inhabit these sites that were time proven. Have you ever studied the ancient river maps before hydo power and impoundments? I studied them when tornament fishing for old channels and structures and learned about shallow bends with oxygeniation for shell fish producing very ancient sites. Nice finds and do not let me wear you out with the useless research of mine. Hope you and your Dad get in many many more great hunts.

Nice finds and do not let me wear you out with the useless research of mine. Can't do that I don't think.Love the stuff to much.I do have some map material I think it goes back as far as 1850.Shows home sites and all.Not sure what you are talking of sounds interresting.

Re: Handful of artifacts I've picked up Lately!

Your maps should work. I am assuming your river has been dammed up. If not does not matter. Maybe some of your good spots are in the bends on the inside. The outside of bends seemed to be washed and swept more and are deep in debri. It was easy to gather food and cross in the bends. Thats all. I just try to study a site and then cold call it and see what it holds. Seems to hold true when looking for a place to live/camp.
Thanks for taking the time to post and reply.
