I think it's a Mexico City mint half reale cob-- kinda hard to pinpoint date other than a roughly 1598 to 1730 time span. Others here might be able to narrow that down more.

Don't know if the contrast helps any. iPhone Camera is horrible. I can't seem to find any of this design in the resources I've been looking in

that might be a monogram on the reverse... in which case a Lima Peru mint could be a possibility

I like "coachbedford's" Mexican's call. If the coin weighs about 3.3 or 3.4 grams, I also like his call of a 1/2 real. Beyond that, I seem to see a "C" on the coin on the right (post #4) which may be part of Carlos II's monogram found on such coins--minted between 1668 and 1697.
