I am zeroing in on an 18th C site in the woods and trying to figure out the mapping based on the meager artifacts I have been locating. I found this iron piece - it is about 3.25" x 4.25". After cleaning it I'm thinking it likely has some good age to it based on the square holes and general unevenness. Maybe broken off farming equipment of some sort?

Any guesses or thoughts?

Looks like it is trying to scare me! :D

:hello: Sure looks old. And I can see how it could scare a feller! :evil7: Best of luck with that site.

My first thought was door handle hardware, but dubious because of the iron.
Otherwise, a hasp & staple comes to mind.
Cheers, Mike
