I hit north beach in Corpus Saturday with my brother a little after noon to chase low tide. The water was so rough I got bruises and lost lots of targets by getting slammed around and then as fast as I could scoop it would fill in. I managed a cell phone, a little clad and sunglasses. A young guy and his wife approached me and asked if I found any rings, I told him no. He said he lost his white gold wedding band yesterday with the inscription I Love You in it. I asked him where he lost it and he pointed out anywhere in a 2 mile area both water and sand. I got his info in case my brother or I ran across it. I wanted to hit this beach when the water was calm so that means early the next day before sunrise. Dang it about killed me to get up that early and my poor brother had to work that evening but I drug his tired ass along anyhow. Well the water was a little choppy but workable. I pulled out tons of clad and then at the end a case pocket knife. I knew I had to get going to get my brother back in time to get ready for work, so I walked the wet sand really fast going back and hit a target. Scooped, checked the whol, knew I had it in the scoop, imagine my surprise when a gold band was staring back at me. I thought great now I gotta return it, I checked it several times and so did my brother and no inscription in it. YEAH so I got a keeper.

I was excited I am hoping for something that sparkles the next time out

I don't see anyone else out there except for the couple bums that live there but they take off pretty quick. I did get a few funny looks because I showed up in long sleeves and jeans. You have to though, the jelly fish was super thick Saturday, I have never seen them that bad before, Sunday they were not so bad but still there. The jeans really help at least you don't feel the sting as bad I can't believe folks let their kids swim there like they do.

Great job    guzz

I am sure glad to know there are others out there that get up early. I wonder if its still dark does that qualify as night hunting?

GTG! Glad to hear things are working out; especially since you had the trouble with your water machine earlier this season.

thanks I gotta say I am happy how it all worked out. I am more than pleased with the excal and with my new scoop.

WTG girl! I've wanted to get down there myself to hunt that North Beach area. Gettin ready to give the beach at Pt. Lavaca a try pretty soon. Are you using a long handled scoop and finding this stuff in the surf line or are most of your finds strictly on the beach in the sand?

I'm thinking of gettin a long handled scoop and still lookin for a good one at a decent price. Currently I use just the hand scoop type aluminum kind that I got from Kellyco.

Happy Huntin! ;D
