Just planned on going out and soaking up some Spring. Pretty much did that too. But,
ya know? If we're not finding, we're also not quite as happy. :dontknow:

No, I didn't get skunked. Even touched back a couple centuries, (I think).

Toasted copper. Funny part is this was found in the middle of a modern
soccer field. About 28mm, 6.35 grams. And pretty thin. :dontknow:

The reverse was no help.

A McCormick Trademark thingamajig.

Blingie's easy. His new shiny, shiny. LOL

Thanks for peeking!

OH YEAH! I almost forgot another find I saw today.

I think he was trying to tell me to slow down. :)

Cool Mr. Turtle .. McCormick ?

Looks like some interesting finds on this fine Spring day.
That looks like either some old McCormick's packaging of some sort,
or the logo that was part of an old retail display. Neat whatever it is.
Nice turtle. Maybe he was there to bring you luck.

You never know where those old coppers will turn up. Is the turtle a snapper?

Probly not much, besides a new jersey copper lol!

That's the fun part, thinking of what it might be,

Neat find!

YEAH IT IS! Good thing you didn't try to put Blingie on his back for pic. You might have lost a finger.

Great finds! Congrats on your fresh air and sunshine too!

Hope Blingie is carefull that shiny shiny can bite if stepped on the wrong way! He now has his own snapping Barrett!

Nice LC find! Maybe Mr. Turtle was telling you to follow him, after all turtles point to treasure! :treasurechest:

The turtle liked the fresh air as well,I've run across some in my hunts usually on nice days. It looks like it might have been a kg at one time8-)

Great find and what some more added fun to the hunt as well :)

Great finds! Gotta love finding those thingamajigs.

try electrolysis u cant toast it anymore i also found a copper in a soccer field and after electrolysis i could make out a date of 1799

Great hunt buddy.... rained all day here in Middle TN. That's the same snapper that bite my beagle dog a few years ago here. Welllll maybe...?

28 mm and the weight I believe, although I have no resources in front of me, fall in a half penny range. You probably have an old kg3 or something along that line. Vino once mentioned that sometimes relics hitch hike in with fill dirt. Maybe that's the case but either way congrats on the unexpected find!

What did the snapper read on your ATPro's VDI? I know box tortises out here read in the nickle to copper range. I imagine a snapper that big will be in the low silver range. Sub :headbang:

Nice digs . Thanks for sharing the hunt and the pictures

Oh but if that were only true! I'd be hunting ponds from here out! ;)

I was kind of leaning toward it being a British coin as well. Just had that feel. Thanks!

Great find and what some more added fun to the hunt as well :)

If it ever stops being fun again, I'll be quitting, again. :)

Great finds! Gotta love finding those thingamajigs.

One of these days, somebody on here is going to say "WHADI!?!?! DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE THERE???!" LOL
The thingamajigs are what keep it interesting! Thanks

Nothing ventured, I'll give that a try!

A dumb question to anyone. When using electrolysis on a toasted copper like this, which direction would be correct? To remove metal from the coin or maybe to copper plate it a bit to see if any detail shows up?

I hear that if they bite, they don't let go, ever! ;)

Oh yeah! This park used to be farm land but I found a coke can about 1 foot down once. Had to be some moving about of the land somewhere along the line. ;)

It rang up somewhere between iron and lunch! ;)

The field could've been filled with dirt from an old site, ya just never know

Hi W, good exercise there, with low impact to the legs getting out in the grassy areas 8-) Wonder if the mystery item is a very worn lucky large cent someone lost like 70 years ago ?
