Trying to identify the actual company this tag came from. I would guess it's a tool tag but maybe not. I've searched many times over the years and have never found any information about it. No information as far as locale, wasn't dug, found about 15 years ago in an old house. Measures 28mm in diameter. Plain back. Brass. Reads - H O at the top one letter on either side of the hole. Then K.L. Co. Camps with the number 167 under that. Appreciate any info.

this is a stretch...but here goes.kent lumber company field site survey tag.very large operation in pac.n.w.

it seems they had engineers who would mark everything ahead of timber operations...like this guy below.
RootsWeb: PSRoots-L Re: BarnestonSelleckKent Lbr. Co. Diary

they were active in the homestead oregon area, even had their own rr.

so that connects"ho","k.l.co","camps"....a stretch to be sure but a fun possibility

Thanks bigfoot1. I remember reading a reference once for a logging camp called K.L. Co. in Oregon (I thought, but maybe it was Wa.) but I could never find out what the abbreviation was for. Maybe this is that company. It's a good direction and more than anyone else has come up with, myself included.

Do a search on Kirby Lumber and Houston Oil.

They had a thing going together in the very early 20th C which included lumber camps and camps for environmental studies on logging.
