Got these at a yard sale and they look real to me, but I have not been able to find anything on google or the internet that looks anything like these.
can anyone give me information or someone to contact how to determine authenticity and age and value ?
they look to be from South America and maybe from graves or something... but I can't locate any information...
All your help is appreciated
Thanks
Richard

Greetings Torrero, I don't know where in NC you live but you're right in the heart of a pottery culture that made "Jughead" pottery for years. Here are just a few of the more popular artists that made them.

fi20.jpg

Jugtown Pottery/Owens-NC, Marie Rogers-GA, North State Pottery-TN, Pisgah Forest/Asheville-NC, Salem Pottery/Pugh-NC, Westmoore Pottery/Farrell-NC, Coles Pottery/Graves-NC, Southern Fork Pottery/Bill Hussey, Catawba Valley Pottery/Reinhardt-NC

These were copied from a local auction bill so I can't say if the addresses are accurate but if you look up some of these on the net you'll see what I mean. My advice, don't sell them until you find out exactly who made them and what they're worth. Some of this stuff is worth thousands. Most of those makers have collectors clubs. Forward a few good pics and you'll probably score.

Best wishes and congrats.

Definitely a precolumbian design, but they appear to be modern copies.

The only problem with modern copies is that there is no indication they were ever made by machine or anything, no markings on the bottom, not stamps or anything and the discoloration appears to be from time, not from chemical ...
Definitely south American and not from North Carolina, the markings and designs are like Mayan or Aztec ... the big one with the head dress looks like the Mayan Gods head pieces pictured on walls of the pyramids in South America.
Hope for more help,
Thanks
