Flobert (France) or Flobert-type (Germany). Need the proof marks to be 100% sure.

Flobert was a frenchman who designed the bullet. I'm sure many manufactures made guns to use it. the hammer and muzzle design should define the actual gun maker.

looking closer I found 6mm on the side of the barrel

Yup! :icon_thumright:

If you can see any crowns, or letters, etc, maybe tiny... that will help.

Anyhow, it is a Flobert type parlor/parlour pistol in 6mm rimfire. Circa 1890. A true Flobert does not have a gate on the action, they just have the hammer.

Nah I just read fast. :read2:

Actually I'm mostly a muzzleloader kinda guy. Those suppository guns are way to modern for me.

If you want to get rid of it the museum here in Alexandria would be glad to take it off your hands.
Looks like it might clean up pretty good. GREAT FIND!!

Welcome to Tnet and congrats on a very cool find. you never know what you're going to find remodeling an old house. One we did had an Indian head penny in each window sill and salt servers over the doors. Nothing as cool as the pistol though.

There was several of these type firearms made way back when a lot of people took up riding bicycles. Big vicious dogs were a hazard for those old high wheel bikes. The US version most popular for popping bad dogs was the 5.5mm Velodog. I see one of those ever so often at gun shows. Very interesting find. Monty
