✅ SOLVED Gumdrop-shaped doodad found in a sandbox at a tot lot

Found this today in the sandbox of a tot lot. It almost looks like a gumdrop, copper or brass colored, and has "67" on the bottom of the larger end. Any ideas? Some sort of weight?

Nope. Don't get TV anymore. Everything we watch comes from DVD's or from what I can download from youtube when in town.

....However, when we moved here many years ago, we brought with us a log that had a 4-prong sort of spear that the tree had grown around. Apparently someone had leaned the thing up against a young tree and left it there. It ended up getting left outside so the wood has rotten away. However, the spear is still in pretty good shape! Just need a new handle. Will have to post a pic sometime...IF i can ever find it again!

Hadn't thought of that, but it would make sense. And they were prolly doing so in the dark, so it would be easy to drop this weight and not find it.

Maybe. Never been froggin' before. Down south I know they would just catch them by hand.

The tool is about 6" wide or a hair more. Two middle tines that are straight, two outer tines with sort of hooks on the inside. Has a long metal neck where the handle fits inside.

back in a few - gonna see if I can find the darned thing.

It looked like the one on the right, only with a bit longer neck where the handle attaches. I think it's in Arkansas right now.

might be a flounder gig or frog gig ...both are common items

I've hit 2 bullets in old wood while running through my planner before. One was in a piece of walnut and the other a piece of maple. I was making a custom chess board. I couldn't BELIEVE it at the time. A "only me" mode kicked in instantly.
