Guitars

I too, collect musical instruments. I have several guitars, mandolins, dulcimers, harmonicas,
and keyboards.
1963 Epiphone acoustic/electric guitar
Neely(handmade locally) mandolin
Morgan Monroe DLX guitar
twelve string guitar and others
Mountain dulcimer(handmade)
I play them all, whenever I get the chance

great link michaelb! some nice looking peaveys! i was in the band thing for 20+ years, seen a bunch of nice axes come and go. now i paint them for others....so i still get to enjoy them!

I never collected guitars, although I wish I had, but I've had some nice ones over the years.

Gibson Melody Maker
Gibson SG I played in the late 60's early 70's. No idea what year it was.
Fender Startcaster simi-hollow body electric
Bought a brand new Cherry Sunburst Les Paul Deluxe in 1985.
Played my 1981 Kramer Pacer Carrera(all black) for 8 years before I sold it.

Now I play a Silvertone strat copy. But ya know, after a bit of work, it's sounds really good for what it is.

i know what your talking about digger, i bought one of those silvertone stratcopies in 2000. i glued the neck, replaced the pick ups and tuners and i swear it sounded better than the usa strat i had!

Here is a guitar I build when I was in high school I think in 1963.

Gator-Flea

P.S. Too bad I never learn how to play!!!!!!!!!

I just bought this 1982 Ibanez Studio Blazer(SB70) from the pawn shop for $125. I looked at it many times but couldn't find any information in the catalogs that matched it. I did finally find out why. It was only made 1 year(1982) and was a hybrid custom. They took some leftover Studio model guitar bodies and the neck from the Blazer model. Hence the name SB70, or Studio Blazer. Very few were made, and even fewer seemed to have survived. I've found picture of 2 others on the Internet, but both have been modified or beaten bad. This one is in very good shape.

The reason I bought it in the first place was the action. It was apparently owned by a southpaw because it was strung for a left hander, but I could tell the action was very good. Even though I at first found no information about it, I figured for $125 a guitar with that good of action was worth it. It is the best playing guitar I have ever owned by far. Sounds pretty sweet on my Peavy Vypyr.

Late 60's-early 70's hollow body violin bass (made in Japan is the only marking on it)
Late 50's "The Third Man" Zither

I miss my Harmony Rocket - stolen

I have gone through so many guitars, I don't know that I can name them all.

These days, I publish Ukulele Player Magazine, among others, so, I have had a very large number of ukuleles, too. I have Hawaiian-built ukes, imports, luthier builds, and everything in between. The sweetest are the KoAloha Pineapple Sunday (yes, that is the right spelling) and the KoAloha Super Concert. I just wrote a review of the Ohana CK-28 (concert scale reproduction of a Dias vintage "peanut-shaped" uke). It is solid mahogany and had Gotoh friction tuners. I have a Tiple (ten steel strings in "D" tuning). I have an Ohana 1920s copy of a Martin #2 also. I've gone through more ukes than I can count.

That's when the 45s were really great. Now, they are hit and miss.
