Found this thin little point yesterday evening and thought it was a guilford straight base. After cleaning it up, I noticed the base just doesn't look right for a guilford. You will see. Any clue of its type? Is it a guilford that was flaked by colorful knapper? I needs help!!

I posted some pics in slightly different lighting in hopes of having all of its detail visible in a pic. Thanks for viewing

Looks almost like a Guilford Stemmed, but also almost like a Madison variant.

Its a good one N.C. We have so many triangles here but yours are not called the same as mine are they? Thirty7 was always good at figuring those out. You have any more like that?

TN, I think this is the only piece like this that I have. I hunted for years not knowing one point from the other. So in all honesty, their is no telling what I have or where I have it at. Lol! I thought this one was wasted out on the flat side. After I swirled it around in a mud hole I saw the work on that side. Gator and time waster both have reasonable answers. I still haven't forgot about measuring that savannah river point for you. I'll try to find a min. For that today!

You got a good one. The tip is so narrow it looks almost like it was going to be a drill soon.

I always thought Stanfields were bigger but yeah it looks just like it.

I was thinking it may have started off as a Stanfield and re-sharpened a few times, or re-found and made into more of a drill, or some other use.

The Badin seems to be a good call. It is the only point that I have found in that field that isn't archaic. The day before I found this point, I found the base to a big sandy within ten feet of this one. In fact, I was looking for the point that goes to the big sandy at the time I found this piece. I really wish book publishers would put color photos of actual artifacts in place of the black and white ones. The black and white pics. really make determining flaking styles a challenge. Ooh well.... Badin it is until proven otherwise. Thanks everyone, and especially Gator and Jonathan!!

Nice so its a point then and not a drill. Mine are drying NC :tongue3:

Don't let them hang on the line overnight. It may rain!! Lol! The ones you sent me pics of looked nice. Lets see them after they dry!!!

ok here they are. I thought the first one was a point but wasnt. Just a knife or tool. The one on the far left is actually a rock but I have found that material before as a artifact in that spot. The other big piece is a broken large scraper and the rest are knifes/ tools
