The one with the star is a 20th century rifled slug.

It's too heavy and the star doesn't match- I'm pretty sure it's a musket ball from the way another one was found near it, and the location.

I stand corrected, darn! The first one is definitely the rifled slug- just found the matching star. The other two confirmed musket balls-

I was on another wild goose hunt for any sign of General Sullivan's questionable "treasure"- the small musket looking ball is interesting though, pretty bummed about the first two 😢

Could be a slug or a conical bullet…..hard to tell in that shape, but not a round ball. What are the dimensions/wts of the round lead?

Ok ncsuwolf...I'll attach a picture but don't break my heart here and don't laugh at the measurement references- it's all I got right now haha 😂

Thank you. Obviously not the most precise measurements, but are directional. I’m guessing the round ball is ~.52”, which lines up close to a .54 cal rifle ball. I’m sure that caliber was around back in the day, but the problem is, it’s still a popular caliber today, along with the .45 and .50. Long way of saying could be 1770s, could be 1970s. One thing you have going is the patina….its been in the ground a while.

One thing to note….there are multiple folks on here that are much more knowledgeable than me on this topic. Hopefully one of them weighs in and can provide you more insight.

All of the old led musketballs I’ve dug are 18century have a white layer that covers them. Even the very odd size led object o took to the museum has the white layer on it. Object turned out to be a weight for duck decoy. They were stumped had to make a few phone calls to what it exactly the item was. Cool finds kee on digging
