I have never run across any of this and do not know if it would be real or not. Judge by what was parked in the yard I lean toward it being real can anybody help me? Maybe my pictures were not good enough but to clear some thing there is NO plastic on or used in this purse 2 the older gucci did not have there name splassed all over them like the new ones 3 if I had been putting those pictures up on ebay I would have done like all others and placed it in the best light possible removing all loose or threads that are sticking up 4 I have the greast respect for all on here for the help we give one another, lets keep it that way..If gucci will allow me to send them pictures and give me a responce I will let you know..there are no stores around here I know of to check it out at. here are some better pictures.

I think not. The loose thread on Picture 3 is a pretty big giveaway. The stitching near the zipper in 3 is also not perfect. The point of HUGELY expensive bags is that they are made perfect... I just can't see major flaws in a new bag (or nearly new).

It is not evan nearly new,But I have never held or looked at one so I do not know. Thanks for your answer

I'd say yes its a real deal, old Italian look to it. It's not modern and probably predates their use of serial numbers and such. Also, this is not a popular bag and never was popular to my knowledge and I've seen no chinese counterfiets of this model produced. The stitching and holding of the bag is falling apart because it's seen a fair amount of use and its old.

I have a little experience with Designer handbags. I'd say no it's not real. The stitching isn't right, it's too straight. It should be angled. The piping is plastic, it should be leather. The overall construction (to me) is sloppy. I've never seen that brass ribbon trim piece before either, on any Gucci purse. This is all just off the top of my head so take it with a grain of salt. Not that i'm an expert or anything like the above poster. He seems to be well versed in the history and popularity of this particular bag.

Look at the stitching overlap in the first picture (where it curves up and is met with a boxed stitch). Looks horrible. No way Gucci would allow a bag that was stitched so poorly to hit shelves.

The leather should be soft and buttery. If it is rigid or stiff then it is fake.

The leather is real soft& supple ? It does have wear,I have been looking on e-bay and found that I screwed up she had 2 more& this is the only 1 I bought.1 of the others is on the bay with a 700 dollar sold bid on it. So I did learn some thing today thanks for all the help guys

There were multiples of the same bag? That is a huge red flag...

Well Bill, there is only one way to find out if it is indeed authentic... list it on the Bay. You'll find out for sure then.

I would say it is not real. I bought a half dozen bags from the 70's and they all had serial number on the inside part of the bag. The previous comments are right about the stitching. The hardware and zippers do not look right either. I would list it on ebay and see how it sells.

First I would like to say excellent pictures! Very nice detail. As far as the purse goes, no, not even a higher quality fake. Way too many issues as others have said. Find an upscale mall that carries expensive bags if you have never handled one. It's a good learning tool. Coach, Gucci, Loui vittone, all good bags.

Probably do not list on eBay. I listed a known fake Louis Vuitton as a "Fake Louis Vuitton" in the title and it was pulled....twice. Yes, I tried to relist it and in my description I said it was fake and didn't want to fool anyone with it. They will not let you sell KNOWN fake name brands when it comes to purses. If you list and do not call it a fake or repro then you risk a bad feedback or irate customer. I thought about selling a "purse lot" to change the title but decided against it. Sold it at my moms store as a fake and got most of my $ back. Good luck!

You cant legally knowingly sell anything counterfeit anywhere in the USA for any reason as far as I know be it a purse, bag, watch, shoes or whatever. In the summer the outdoor flea markets here get hit hard by the police looking for any & all counterfeit goods of any shape or size. The only place I know that get away with selling knock-offs or counterfeits are local auctions & they get away with murder IMO. EBay is just following the law & I have had auctions pulled because I worded it funny & someone assumed it was a counterfeit thus they pulled the auction down. I forget the item but finally on the 3rd attempt it stayed on eBay & sold. Listings can get pulled for as little as using the wrong word or words anywhere in the ad.

A couple of the thrift stores in my area seem to specialize in overpriced counterfeit handbags. Some were pretty good but most are poor. A lot really bad knockoffs. That said, I have found a couple nice Italian bags I made a little money on, and one real Coach and one Prada wallet. But, maybe because I am a guy, these did not hold my interest (and a lot of time for the return) and I stopped spending time with them.

The advice is sound about checking out authentic high end bags at like a Prada or Gucci dealer. The leather is supple and the stitching flawless. It feels expensive.

You all assume these companies made good quality stuff back in the day. They weren't the outrageously expensive things they are today and had different lines of products at different costs. My guess was this was one of their "cheaper" handbags.... Cheap vs the better models they sold. "supple and the stitching flawless" no, not in the 1970s, with years of use. I dont see why ANYONE would counterfeit a model that doesn't even remotely resemble the similar ones. Just because it's Gucci, DOES NOT MEAN it is not subject to flaws, imperfect stitches and the effects of time.

Im still going with counterfeit, Big names like Levis and carhartt wont even sell products with crappy stiches, any jeans with stiches not up to par go to brick and mortar places that sell them as defects. I have bought great levis with a stich 1/4 off for almost half price. Now the Gucci brand is like a Bentley, I don't think they would ever have let this go out the shop today or even in the 1970's. louis vuitton never let sub par go out. Just my opinion.

The tell tale sign is the lining on designer purses. It should have Gucci print material inside. If the inner material is one solid color generally this means fake. Look up how to spot a fake Gucci on eBay and they will tell you what to look for. My wife sells alot of designer purses on eBay so I have become very knowledgeable on the subject also.

Your the obvious authority on the subject. Thanks for clearing that up for us.
Don't know what we would have done without you.::)

FWIW- You really shouldn't comment on subjects you obviously know nothing about. This isn't the crh forum. Gucci's reputation for producing high quality goods precedes them, especially handbags. Christ, Jackie Kennedy even carried a Gucci bag. I doubt the presidents wife would have carried anything less than the best. If anything, "some" of their products are made with less quality today versus in the 1970's. Just like everything else.
